Isn’t it nice to spend time outside in this warm weather after months of being stuck at home during quarantine? But the sun isn’t going to be kind to your skin. UVA and UVB radiation can damage the skin increasing the risk of skin cancer.

These three products are an absolute must if you spend any time outside. I do for sure with my three kids who run around in our backyard and swim almost daily weather permitting in the summer.

First one is my absolute favorite Elta MD Tinted Moisturizer for Acne Prone skin with SPF 46. It goes on smooth and I don’t even have to apply any cover up make up after. It is moisturizing and is not breaking me out. Elta MD is mineral based sun block with zinc and titanium dioxide, the particles are micronized, and they don’t leave a white film on the skin. I also like Elta MD body SPF, it comes in a convenient mess free pump bottle.

SkinCeuticals Vitamin C serum with Ferulic Acid and Vitamin E is the best antioxidant on the market and it is a gold standard for the formulations. Why? Because it is a serum and only serums contain active form of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is also very unstable but presence of Ferulic Acid helps to keep it active. Together with vitamin E they make Vitamin C up to eight times more potent. Vitamin C also breaks down by sun light and the dark tinted glass of SkinCeuticals prevents that process. Apply a few drops every morning by gently pressing it into your skin and let this wonderful product protect your from free radicals and help reverse some of UVA and UVB sun damage.

Many people are not aware that there is also a supplement that can protect you from sun damage. It is called Heliocare. I have been using it for many years and it has kept me from getting sunburns. It is always a must for me during summer months and on vacation. Heliocare is made from a fern called Polypodium Leukotomas. It naturally has sun protective properties and it is also an antioxidant. I recommend it to my melasma patients, anyone with fare skin, sun allergies, or lupus patients. You can buy it in at your pharmacy, but you would have to take two pills a day. If you want a convenience of one capsule a day and extra potent formulations we carry Heliocare Ultra at Khrom Dermatology.

I have noticed great changes in my skin since using all three products. My skin tone is much more even without pigmentation that is usually caused by the sun. I recommend these three as a package because all three complement each other for the best sun protective properties. They are backed by science and I approve them based on my personal experience. My skin loves them and yours will too.
