How I became an author

A writer in me

I have been an avid reader as long as I can remember. I was the child that would read at night and my parents would yell for me to go to sleep already. I read everything in our home library. I love biographies, historic fiction, romance, detectives, and poems. I enjoy a beautiful string of words it sounds like a beautiful tune of music to my ear.

When my second child was born, my daughter (she is now seven), I nursed her and in between breast feedings I also pumped milk to freeze so she has it when I had to go back to work. These pumping sessions would last 20-25 minutes, 2-3 times a day. All I could do was to stare at a TV while feeling only as a milk producing body. So I decided that I will be productive and read instead. I picked up The New York Times best seller list and would download books to my kindle that appealed to me. Some books impressed me, some were underwhelming, and come I questioned for being a bestseller at all. It’s those questionable books that made me think that I could possibly write a better story, the one I would actually enjoy. And so I did.

The first 30,000 words came easily. I didn’t have a plan, but I had the beginning and the end in my head. I knew that I enjoyed intertwined story lines, history, and romance; those are the aspects that drove my story forward. Then life happened. I had another child. I didn’t know anything about publishing, so I put my writing away for a few years.

But my amazing husband kept on nudging me to pursue my writing and after attending an inspiring workshop from a self-published author Eva Lesko Natiello, I completed my first novel Eyes of Amber. Then Spice of Love followed and I am now finishing my third novel that I am hoping to make into a trilogy.

I love writing. It’s a process that is very satisfying, calming, exciting and at times frustrating. Besides writing, there is a lot of editing and marketing (which I knew nothing about). But I truly enjoy creating all of my characters. I draw inspiration from my loved ones, friends, family, and even people that I am not fond of. I cry while writing some scenes, my heart races, I even feel anxiety when my character goes through some struggles.

If you read my books, I really appreciate it. Please leave a review, it means a lot for the success of my books. If you want to join my ARC team, shoot me an email via Contact Me button. Happy reading!
